Lost the hard drive

Well,

It seems that my laptop just isn't happy unless it has its annual crash. I'll omit the gory details and just say that I restored it to the factory image and all is well again. Of course, I lost a day doing that and reloading the software that I think I can't live without.

Thankfully my daughter was hounding me for a memory stick and so, in the process of wiping one clean for her, I did a full backup onto another one so I wouldn't lose the data that was on the one I gave her. That was the night before... all I lost was email from the past 8 months and all my browser bookmarks including ones to software download pages for software I've paid for, like Newtscape :-(

Between that, a week's holiday skiing (oh yeah, lost all those pictures too...), two major conference presentations to complete, and the world of clinical practice, I have barely turned on the Newton! I did get a case for it 'though, and now it is protected against the elements, such as they are in my office.
