Well, another week has ended. I will be taking a few days next week as "research days." As I mentioned below, I have 3 abstracts accepted for CPA and need to put some solid work into them. I also have some work for the College that needs final touches before I get back.
So, for the week of Feb 20:
* Monday is a holiday. I will be skiing. Here.
* Tuesday - Friday: Research days. I will check voicemail and am available by cell (403) 502-6961. I don't have e-mail where I'll be but if it is absolutely necessary, I can pay unbelieveable prices for very short access at a local cafe (that otherwise serves the best baked goodies in the Pass - -they just charge too much for the "cyber" part of their cafe.)
We'll be coming home the following weekend and I plan to do a pre-week catch-up on-line on Sunday the 26th.
Here's a short wish list that hopefully I will be able to get to soon:
* write a review of Gustafson's Very Brief Psychotherapy. All of his work is excellent and informs the core of my working model for doing therapy.
* tackle Norcross' Evidence-Based Practices in Mental Health. I'm not a big fan of the evidence-based movement because I think it omits and marginalizes the role and presence of the therapist. Previously, Norcross made this point (See his Psychotherapy Relationships that Work). I figured, if he's going to weigh in on this discussion, I need to read what he (and his co-authors/editors) have to say.
* read (with immense pleasure) McWilliams' Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy
* finish (for the second time) Gibson's Pattern Recognition - easily his best.
* start Keegan's The Second World War. I read his work on WW 1, and now I want to see how it all ends.
Cheers!
Paul
