Slow Learner Waxes Philosophical

Well, the continued efforts with BluePrint2 highlight the bigger issue that I have been avoiding: interconnectivity.

What I have that works is X-Port (upgraded to 2.1 from my original version.) This is one fine utility. In fact, it is responsible for the many screen shots on the site. What I still hope to work out is something that moves documents and spreadsheets (and yes, ultimately project files) back and forth with little fuss.

And here's where it gets a bit philosophical. Am I just wanting a big Palm with handwriting recognition ?! (Will I be struck by a green lightning bolt with Apple logo for even thinking this?) Have I been using a different platform for too long? What will it take to just let go & live out of the green box once and fer all?

(Everyone disliked that guy in the front who always answered the professor's rhetorical questions... but here's what it would take:)

  1. Good connectivity with key applications. (Why? So that I can back-up and store data on a non-Newton machine. There are a finite number of Newtons out there. I worry about the risk of losing mb's of work and not being able to easily recover.)
  2. The ability to do it with the platform of my choice. (Why? Because much as I'd love a Mac, I am also committed to making these things work across systems.)
  3. The ability to share. (Why? I work in collaboration with a number of others who could benefit from my efforts, if only from the time I take to do the data entry on some of these projects.)
Now I must spend some time again being a psychologist so that I can continue to fund this project :-)

Cheers green community!
